The fourth round of the Bosch Australian Rally Championship, Scouts Rally of South Australia, has attracted a bumper 55 car field which will be headed by four times Australian champion Simon Evans in his new Rallyschool Mazda 2.

The strong field in South Australia comes despite the fact that the Adelaide based rally is not a round of the Side by Side Rally Challenge and features a healthy Classic entry and boasts the winners of ten previous Australian Rally Championships.

Evans will return to the series in the G2 spec Madza2 and has already declared he is out to put an end to the dominance of the Bosch two wheel drive ARC by younger brother Eli Evans in the Honda Jazz.

South Australian born Jack Monkhouse will also be one to watch in his home event following strong form at the International Rally of Queensland before a component failure denied him finishing the event.

A large four wheel drive ARC contingent is also confirmed for South Australia with a tense battle shaping between New South Wales driver Michael Boaden and Western Australia's Tom Wilde. Boaden currently heads to SA with a two-point lead over Wilde in the Bosch four wheel drive ARC.

Queenslander Steven Shepherd is keen to add his name to the list of round winners in the four wheel drive ranks for 2012 as is WA's Nic Box who showed enormous speed in the opening two rounds before a major crash derailed his championship tilt.

The Bosch ARC Classic Rally Challenge once again promises a fascinating mix of cars ranging from the Japanese Toyotas of four times Australian champ Neal Bates and the Datsuns of Neville Whittenbury and Fro Horobin, to the thoroughbred German Porsches of father and son opponents Jeff and Jacques David and the Mercedes Benz 280 of Bruce Field to the Aussie made Holden Commodore of twice ARC champion Barry Lowe.

Scott Pedder, CEO of the Bosch Australian Rally Championship, believes Scouts Rally SA will be one of the highlights of the 2012 series thanks largely to the return of Simon Evans to the Championship.

"There has been no shortage of action in the Bosch Australian Rally Championship this year and that will certainly continue with the return of Simon Evans in the exciting new Mazda," said Scott Pedder.

"Our aim is to attract more new cars into the Bosch ARC and hopefully bring more manufacturers back into the sport and many are watching the arrival of the Mazda with great interest," said Pedder.

"The Bosch two wheel drive ARC continues to grow and more and more drivers are becoming convinced that this is the right direction for the Bosch ARC as the year progresses."

"At each of the three rounds so far, there has been a wide variety of cars ranging from the light and nimble G2 spec cars Hondas, to the traditional four wheel drive Mitsubishi Evos and Subaru WRXs to the variety of Classics and the entry in Adelaide and emphasises the growing strength of the Championship."

The Scouts Rally of South Australia takes place on 28-29 July.

More than 2 million Australians will see the Bosch ARC on TV in 2012 and the series will generate more than 40 hours of national television across the Ten/One HD network - a media equivalency value exceeding $12 million. The Bosch Australian Rally Championship also receives support from- multi-national fuel and lubricant giant BP as the primary fuel supplier and for the third year Korean tyre giant Kumho as the exclusive tyre supplier for the championship. Other commercial partners include East Coast Bullbars, Honda, rallyschool.com.au, Polaris, CanAm, Snake Racing and CAMS.
