The members of the Australian Rally Commission (ARCom) will hook up for a tele-conference at least 12 times this year.

New chairman, Ed Ordynski, has scheduled one tele-conference a month for 2007, which will be seen as a real landmark for the much-maligned commission.

One of Ordynski’s major motivations this year is to ensure that rallyists – from ARC to grass roots level – receive much faster service from ARCom and are kept informed about the decisions taken.  Also gone are the long explanations for decisions in the minutes, something Ordynski says he hopes people will understand needs to be done to make the minutes simple to produce.

Minutes of these tele-conferences will be available for release within seven days of the meetings, which will also be seen as a huge step forward. In previous years the minutes of ARCom meetings hadn’t been released until up to three months after the meetings had concluded.

The dates for this year’s ARCom teleconferences are:

February 13
March 13
April 10
May 8
June 12
July 17
August 14
September 11
October 9
November 13
December 11

The next scheduled face-to-face meeting of the Australian Rally Commission is on August 3 and 4.

The chairman of ARCom will also conduct monthly tele-conferences with the State Rally Advisory Panel Chairmans and invitees.
