Geof Argyle and his Hunting and Fishing sponsored team are looking forward to another successful round in Whangarei after a second place in the 4WD Open Championship and 6th overall in the Otago Rally.

The fast rocky roads of Otago proved a challenge to the experienced 2 times NZ Champion when on the last stage of Day 1 a rock crushed the exhaust pipe causing loss of power. A blown turbo on the last stage of the second day also meant valuable time was lost.

“The car was competitive on the tighter stages but lacked some speed on the faster stages – there’s room for improvement for the next rallies” says Argyle.

But by consistently finishing every stage and staying in touch with the leaders meant a comfortable placing and valuable points for the 4WD Open Class.

Argyle sits on 136 points with long time rival Andrew Hawkeswood on 74 points.

Current pointscore:
Geoff Argyle    136
Andrew Hawkeswood    74
Glenn Inkster    46
Lee Stringer    27
Steve Barker    27
Alex Kelsey    0
Adam Bligh    0

Argyle is now preparing for the Whangarei Rally on June 6th and 7th which is also part of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship.

“We’ll put on a new turbo, fix a few things and go in confident of another top result” say Argyle.
