Guy Tyler and Steve Fisher, the current South Australian Rally Champions and Vauxhall Motorsport Junior Rally Team Finalists, are seeded car 48 for the Pirelli Carlisle Rally. The two day event based in Carlisle, Cumbria (UK), will be held on the weekend of April 30 and May 1.

Off to a promising start, Tyler and Fisher showed good pace on the opening night stages at the Mid Wales Stages Rally, their first event on British soil. However, on the first stage of the next day, two cars that were off in the snowy conditions caused Tyler to lose concentration and he decided to add his car next to, instead of on top of, the cars stuck in the snow, ending his rally early.

Being the Aussie battlers that the pair are they haven’t let their circumstances discourage them. “She’ll be right” they said as they got back up, dusted themselves off and bid farewell to the snowy conditions.

Despite their rough start to the year the Australian public has surrounded Tyler and Fisher with constant support and words of encouragement. They have featured in several of South Australia’s popular newspapers, blogs and magazines since they began competing in the Junior British Rally Championship. With no major sponsor on board, a crowd funding campaign has helped to raise the funds needed to compete.

“I’ve said it over and over but I can’t say it enough, I am SO grateful for all of the people that have helped us get here. We really wouldn’t be able to compete if we didn’t have their support,” said Tyler.

Pirelli Carlisle Rally will be held in the Kielder Forest, known for its twisty roads and car hungry ditches. Determined not to become a victim to the forest, the crew’s eyes are firmly fixed to the finish line.

“It will be great to be able to experience these new roads. Like the Mid Wales Stages, these will be very different to those back in Australia so it’s really allowing me to test my skills on a new level. After the devastation of our last event, my first aim is to finish, my second aim is to have fun and my third is to show the BRC what I’ve got,” Tyler added.

With the ceremonial start at Pirelli Tyres factory, the crews then compete in Kielder Forest for two days before returning to Carlisle for a ceremonial finish at H&H’s Exhibition Hall.
