One of Australia's few international spec R5 rally cars will be missing from the entry list at Rally Australia in two weeks time. Tasmanian brothers Marcus and Scott Walkem had originally intended to contest the event in their Hyundai i20 R5. However, the birth of a new baby for Marcus and his wife have seen those plans shelved. The Walkems drove the car at their home ARC round, Rally Tasmania, in June, before former WRC star, Hayden Paddon, took the wheel at the Eureka Rally in August. Paddon showed the speed of the car, and RallySport Magazine were lucky enough to have a ride in the car before that event. Unfortunately that appears as though it was the car's last outing this year. Australian drivers in R5 cars at Rally Australia will be John O'Dowd (Skoda Fabia), Luke Anear (Ford Fiesta), and Victorian competitor Martin Grigg, who has leased a Ford Fiesta for the event. The national entry list for Rally Australia is expected to be released any day.
