Sydney car dealer Kevin Shaw and his Brisbane co-driver, John Allen, have finished the Rally of Argentina in 38th place.
Driving a Group A Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 7, Shaw and Allen started the event by setting stage times around 60th fastest, but increased their speed on the final leg and were an impressive 29th quickest on the final two long stages.
Then, on the final 2.40km Super Special Stage, they were a brilliant seventh fastest, to finish the event in 38th place.
Meanwhile New Zealanders Andrew Hawkeswood and Jeff Judd drove a Lancer Evo 7 to 40th place.
Hawkeswood, who has previously competed in Australia at the Rally of Canberra, set stage times as high as 18th overall during the shortened sixth round of the World Rally Championship.
