A major component of the 45th year of the Australian Rally Championship celebrations in 2013 will be the introduction of the Australian Rally Hall of Fame.
The first ten inductees into the new Australian Rally Hall of Fame will be presented as part of a very special gala event to be held on Tuesday 26th February in Canberra as part of the launch of the 2013 East Coast Bullbars Australian Rally Championship.
Chairman of the Australian Rally Commission and one of the members of a special panel to elect inductees, Colin Trinder, says that 2013 has been chosen as a pivotal year in which to recognise those that have made a significant contribution to Australian Rallying.
“The 60th year celebrations of CAMS and the 45th running of the Australian Rally Championship make 2013 the perfect time to recognise those people that have made significant contributions to our great sport. The selection process has begun in earnest and it certainly is an extremely daunting task to select the first ten. There have been so many people that have shaped our entire sport across all disciplines and levels,” said Mr Trinder.
The Australian Rally Hall of Fame will recognise different types of contributors, from competitors to officials to service personnel, administrators and promotional personnel.
“It is certainly easy to focus on those legendary drivers and co-drivers that have taken the limelight over the years and definitely competitors will feature prominently amongst the recipients however officials and administrators and those type of quieter achievers will be very much a key part of this recognition process,” Mr Trinder added.
The Australian Rally Hall of Fame will continue beyond 2013 with the number of inductees each year yet to be decided.
A public nomination form is now available by following the Australian Rally Hall of Fame links from the home page at www.rally.com.au
“We certainly welcome the input of the Australian Rallying Public to assist in the difficult process of selecting those initial ten inductees,” said Mr Trinder.
