Entries in the 2012 Border Ranges Rally, scheduled for August 25 are very quickly filling and is now shaping up as “The One to Go to” in the 2012 season. A magnificent line up of Men, Women and Machine are starting to take shape and the entry list is looking like a battle of the Titans, from top to bottom.
The rally was always going to be Red Hot with Queensland Rally Championship competitors wanting to make their break as the series begins to come to a head, but now there is also a brand new battle developing in the Classics as well.
Organising club, Gold Coast Tweed Motorsporting Club wanted to add extra flavour to this year’s event and make the annual Border Ranges Rally a stand out on the calendar. They know full well that the swell of enthusiasm and interest in the classics is always going to be a winner, so went on a massive push to encourage and secure some top name drivers and crowd favourite cars.
Heading the classic line up will be Ross Dunkerton, with Stewie Reid and Ed Mulligan also pedalling their potent and glorious sounding BDA Escorts. Escorts won’t be the only crowd pleasers, nor will they have the rally to themselves. Wanting a slice the action will be a Triumph TR8, Mazda Rotaries, plenty of Datsun Grunters, a few thundering aussie V8s and Jamie Lawson in his colourful, CQP sponsored Commodore Ute.
Central Queensland Petroleum identified the Border Ranges Rally and the Classic battle as an excellent wave to ride to promote their name and image. CQP spokes person, Mr Tony Lowe said:
“Many of our East Coast Rally competitors, officials and spectators live, work and do business in and throughout the Central Queensland area, so it is a great opportunity to spread our name and also help push along what is shaping up to be one of the most spectacular rally battles this year. We are very excited to be offering up CQP Fuel Cards as prizes to some of the many winners and grinners at the upcoming rally.”
Entries are now open and filling very fast in the 2012 Border Ranges Rally. Further details can be found at www.gctmc.org.au
