The ECB Rally Calder saw the Britz Australia Rally Team grab an outright 7th place in the 4WD category.
“It was an awesome weekend for our team” said driver and team owner Mark Butcher. “We really pushed the car and finished the race without any damage or major repair work being needed.”
It was a tough completion with rain and difficult weather conditions to contend with, which lead to many teams occurring major damage to their vehicles and the huge crash of fellow Tasmanian based team Ivan Thompson and Karl Francis in their valuable Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
“The wet conditions were difficult, but led to some great photo opportunities, resulting in some great shots of Spike our team mascot and a great experience for all of the spectators who braved the conditions to come and cheer us on” says Mark.
The team enjoyed the comforts of their Britz campervan to keep out of the wet and cold and wre happy to shelter some of the spectators too!
Along with the team’s performance, fellow Driver Skills Australia Trainers also achieved some excellent results, including Michael Busby RX7 with 1st 2WD Junior Champion / 3rd Outright 2WD, James Rodda WRX - 6th Outright 4WD and Kirrilee Gentleman WRX - 8th Outright 4WD (Co-driver).
So now it is back to Tasmania for the team and back to the shed to get the car and team ready for the Legana Tyres and More Rally on March 17.
“All the late nights and hard work preparing the car has all been worth it”, says Mark “And we are looking forward to really pushing ourselves to improve on our results and see what we can achieve”.
