Eighteen competitors contested nine daylight stages and 3 night stages. It had been five years since the sound of rally cars echoed through the forest roads, and if the smiles at the presentation BBQ afterwards were anything to go by, crews can’t wait till next year.
The event was won by ex-Queensland rally legend Wayne Hoy, with Lisa Dunkerton calling the shots in a Datsun 1600. Second home, from Townsville, was Greg Van Dinter and Richard Wall in an MK 2 Escort, who had a battle all day with third place David Kayess /and Peter Kayess in their GT Corolla.
