2006 British Rally Championship runner-up, Ryan Champion, will miss this weekend’s Jim Clark Rally, the second round of this year’s championship.

Despite finishing a strong third in the opening round, Champion does not have the funds to compete in round two.

In 2006 he took three wins but found himself without a drive just weeks before the opening 2007 event when he was dropped by the official Mitsubishi Ralliart team.

He was then loaned a car by former British Champion, Jonny Milner, for the first round, but the deal was a one-off, and with no further sponsorship, he has been left on the sidelines.

"After having a great season last year this is really frustrating, but that's the nature of the sport. At the moment I'm not sure when I'll be competing again, but I'll certainly keep chasing any opportunities,” Champion said.
