Team Citroen Australia principle, Ron Cremen, has confirmed Citroen, along with other team partners Citroen Racing, Fibertech Medical, Total Lubricants and Autografika signage, will remain in the Australian Rally Championship for 2015.
“2014 was always going to be an interesting year, being new in the championship we had to find out exactly where we were compared to our opposition and then to try and be as competitive as possible, while learning with a new car,” Cremen said.
“The car is very competitive in Europe and I have been quite surprised at the speed of the local car and driver combinations in the championship, which so far has kept the team off the top step on the podium.
“Our team has performed very well to date and I am pleased with the progress, but we still have to work hard to find some speed and have high expectations for the final round in Victoria to close out 2014.
“Plans for 2015 are moving forward and I am in negotiations with Middle East contacts to expand our sponsor base and commitment to the championship in an effort to find a winning combination.”
Citroen Racing have introduced a Maxi 3 engine kit for the DS3-R3 which the team could call on for 2015 if required, to match the cars running under G2 rules, but Cremen believes there is still more in the current car set-up to gain time.
Driver line up for 2015 is still under review, but the team hopes to make a further announcement in December, before testing in January.
