Tom Clarke has confirmed he will compete in a full season of the New South Wales Championship, with the state title his aim.
Clarke, who has achieved strong results in the past, will also look at his options with regards to competing in the Australian Rally Championship. After seasons of heartbreak, Clarke is determined to put together a consistent season to take out his local state championship in New South Wales. “We have been in a good position to win the championship the past two years, but have ran into troubles which have destroyed our chances,” Clarke said.
“We’ve rebuilt our Mitsubishi after our crash last year, so it’s basically all new
“I’m looking forward to putting our best foot forward and giving the championship a real crack,” he added.
However, the aforementioned ARC ambitions of Clarke and co-driver Ryan Preston are largely dependent on results and funding.
“We will enter in the ARC field at round one in Canberra, and if we achieve a good result, we will then look at going to round two in Western Australia,” Clarke explains.
“It is a fair financial commitment to take the car to WA, so we may even look at hiring something over there.
“Hiring something could possibly put us on a level playing field with guys like Harry and Lewis (Bates), and Luke Anear.”
Clarke is no stranger to ARC fields having competed several times at Rally Australia and National Capital Rally in years past.
The New South Wales Rally Championship begins on March 21-22 at the National Capital Rally.
