The Australian Rally Championship (ARC) executive has had a shake-up, with Adrian Coppin taking over the role as championship manager. Brisbane-based Coppin has been appointed Motorsport Australia's Events Manager, a role that will see him managing the ARC, as well as the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships, and the Australian Off Road Championship. This is in addition to his role as the ARC's Commercial Operations Manager, and as part of the Rally Australia board of management. As the ARC Manager, he takes over from Perth-based Justin Hunt, who spent three years in the role. "Firstly, I'd like to acknowledge the work that Justin has done over the past three years, and in particular this year, which has been such a challenge," Coppin told RallySport Magazine.
"I'm looking forward to the new role with the ARC, and having a fresh start to build the championship in 2021."
Coppin hopes to have a draft calendar for the 2021 ARC ready soon, and will be working closely with the championship's commercial partners to grow the sport further. "I'm looking forward to building some consistency within the championship, and talking to competitors and organisers to better understand what they want from the ARC," he added. A competitor survey is expected to be prepared in the coming weeks. This year was to have seen two new commercial partners backing the championship for the first time. RSEA Safety had been unveiled as the championship's naming rights sponsor, while Hoosier Tyres were appointed as the control tyre supplier. The 2020 ARC was cancelled last week because of the continued border restrictions in Australia, but a one-event, RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Cup will be held at November’s Netier National Capital Rally.
