Three-time Australian Rally Champion, Eli Evans, intends to make good use of the mid-season break with a competitive test in his Mini Cooper AP4 next month.
With no ARC rounds until September, Evans will enter the third round of the Victorian Rally Championship, the George Derrick Pyrenees Rush, on Sunday, August 27.
Evans debuted the Mini at the National Capital Rally in May and was happy with the initial speed of the car, until a steering problem on the second day led to his retirement from the event.
“I want to get a decent set-up in the car, so I can be confident at Rally SA in September,” Evans told RallySport Magazine.
The Melbourne driver is expected to be co-driven, as usual, by the experienced Glen Weston.
Based at Avoca, two hours north west of Melbourne, the George Derrick Pyrenees Rush will be a pacenoted event with reconnaissance on the Saturday, and the rally taking place on the Sunday.
The expected entry of Evans and the AP4 Mini is certain to increase spectator numbers significantly for the event.
