Driving his Castrol supported Ford Fiesta R2, Canberra’s Adrian Coppin and the team from Innate Motorsport are looking to score a strong result at the 10th round of the World Rally Championship, Coates Hire Rally Australia to be conducted in the countryside around Coffs Harbour in New South Wales from Thursday to Sunday this week.

“Our season has gone from strength to strength this year, as the team has bonded into a professional unit.  Our 2nd place in the International Rally of Queensland, a round of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship last month has been the highlight so far but a good result in the WRC 3 category in this event would be pretty satisfying,” Adrian said

Outside the outright WRC competitors, a strong battle between the four Ford Fiesta’s competing in the event - two current R2 models and two of the older Fiesta ST will be sure to keep the weekend interesting.

“I am looking forward to the battle between the Fiesta’ entrants.” Coppin said.  “The older Group A Fiesta of former Australian 2WD Champion, Razvan Vlad is going to be hard to beat but having someone to chase will make me try that extra bit harder,” Coppin said.

After a day climbing the Sydney Harbour bridge with the WRC stars, the team’s preparations started in earnest today, with testing in the forest and then the next two days will be spent making pace-notes of the competitive sections of the event.

"Yesterday was pretty special.  To be able to mix with the world's best rally drivers and be treated as an equal is one of the things I love most about this sport.  But it is back to earth today and the hard work is just starting."

The Coates Hire Rally Australia will get underway with a Ceremonial Start in the Coffs Harbour city mall from 4pm on Thursday followed soon after by the first night of the ARMOR ALL Super Special Stage at the nearby Brelsford Park Rally Hub at 6:30pm.
