Canberra rally crew Adrian Coppin and Tim Batten will be joining the ranks of the British Rally Championship next year for a one-off appearance at the Rally of Northern Wales in April.  They will be driving the ex-Molly Taylor Fiesta R2 which Coppin purchased recently.

“Since watching my first rally video with dad as a little boy, Britain always seemed to be the place to rally, so when I decided to buy Molly Taylor’s Fiesta, leaving it in the UK and competing in a round of the BRC was an opportunity to good to pass up,” Coppin said.

The Rally of North Wales, formerly known as the Bulldog International Rally, is based at Welshpool in central Wales and will be held on 6/7 April 2013.  The event will see major changes as it adapts to the current economic climate in the UK and tries to reduce the time that competitors need to spend away from work and families.

The majority of scrutineering will be held on Saturday morning followed by a ceremonial start in Welshpool Town Centre.  Competitors will then complete a number of stages during Saturday afternoon and into the evening before entering overnight Parc Ferme.

On Sunday crews will return to the best forestry stages in the UK and then finish around lunchtime for an early awards ceremony and departure home.

“Unfortunately the rally clashes with the QUIT Forest Rally, so I will drop that round of the ARC, so I can go to the UK,” Coppin said.

The car won’t be Coppins regular mount for 2013 but could make a couple of one-off appearances later in the year at the APRC and WRC events.

“I can’t confirm anything yet as my plans are still just plans.”
