Western Australian Adrian Di Lallo and his Red Earth Motorsport team are heading to Canberra this weekend to compete in the Australian Rally Championship.
A last minute deal was struck with Gerald Schofield from Fibertech Medial Australia to run a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 6 only a month after Adrian and the team returned from the Dakar Rally where he finished a creditable 38th outright, 11th in class on his first attempt against the might of the multi-million dollar factory outfits and Dakar legends.
Di Lallo said: “I am very excited to have a go at rallying which will be a totally new discipline for me, it will be a steep learning curve and I am glad to have experienced co-driver Rodger Pedersen sitting next to me calling the notes. Rodger & I are good friends having raced together before in an endurance event at Broken Hill and also Rodger was part of the Dakar crew.”
Di Lallo’s co-driver, Rodger Pedersen, added “We haven’t even seen the car in the flesh yet and are due to land in Canberra just in time for recce so the first time Adrian will drive the EVO 6 will be on Stage one. My aim will be to slowly guide Adrian into rallying, he is a great endurance driver but the disciplines are different so our goal will be to finish the event.”
The team will post regular updates on Facebook and Twitter over the weekend so get on board and follow the team’s progress.
