2011 was another great year of Motorsport enjoyment and experience for the now 17 year old Dan Day from Adelaide.

Dan and his co-driver Steve Glenney will contest the entire ARC, in this the last year of the 4WD turbo cars being outright competitive.

Steve has been mentoring Dan on and off the track since he was 14, and so far the duo have certainly proven their pace on the Tarmac when Dan finished 4th outright in the national section of what was only his second ever rally, the 2011 Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally.

Their rally car for this season is a beautifully presented built 2007 WRX/STI.  Among many other updates planned for the STI throughout this year, Dan expects to be testing Pfitzner Performance Gearbox's latest innovation, STI-Sequential Dog Shifting, this feature will most likely be installed during April ready for the first round of the SARC.

Dan and Steve's ARC campaign will kick off with Rally Calder on the 1st -4th of March.  This event will see a new beginning to rallying in Australia with many new classes such as the G2 Championship (2WD), SUV, and SxS (UTV Racing) plus the continuation of the ARC Unrestricted Turbo classes.

The entire rally is to be held within the grounds of Calder Park Raceway with easy access for spectating and a chance for manufacturers and sponsors to showcase their vehicles and products.

The rally comprises of many 3-5km stages that are spread across tarmac and gravel through the racetrack, thunder dome, car parks and goat tracks. The team have entered Rally Calder in the ARC Unrestricted class because this rally really suits Dan's driving style and experience to date, plus the extra power will be very helpful given the stages are 40% tarmac.

The second ARC round is in W.A. which is where the team are planning to enter in the RallySchool Junior Challenge, this means putting the turbo restrictor back in and competing with the other youngsters from all over Australia.  They will have 3 opportunities this season to qualify for the RallySchool Junior Challenge Shoot-out, which is then held in Coffs Harbour during the 5th round of the ARC.

Certainly as a team they will have a very busy year with 6 national ARC rounds, 4 state SARC rallies plus the 3- day National Tarmac Rally in Adelaide, and as per usual much time will be spent testing at local track, autocross and motorkhana events.

Dan has also been successful in securing a long term sponsorship agreement with Zircotec Australia (specialists in automotive heat coatings), founded by former rally driver Dan Prentice, who says he sees great potential in Dan for a career in Motorsport!
