Cody Crocker and Ben Atkinson have won Rally China, and just by starting the event, have secured their first ever Asia Pacific Rally Championship title.
The pair took maximum points on all six events in the series and won ten out of 12 heats in their Les Walkden Rallying-prepared Subaru Impreza, confirming their domination.
Rally China was run under difficult conditions with heavy rains turning some stages into a quagmire, however Crocker handled the slippery, muddy conditions with ease. His championship win has also secured the Asia Pacific manufacturers' title for Subaru.
Naturally delighted with his win, Crocker thanked all at Les Walkden Rallying for their support this year.
"Full credit to Les Walkden and the team. He gave Ben and me this opportunity and the team have produced a great car. Even though we came here (China) with this championship wrapped up, it is fantastic to formally get the business done and now we can celebrate. This championship is second only to the World Championship, so it means a lot to the whole team to win it."
"It really is a fantastic feeling and I hope that something can come out of this for Ben (Atkinson) and me, either at the World Championship level, or the chance to try and win at this level again."
"We go to Monte Carlo to collect the title at the official FIA dinner Friday week, so that will be a big thrill to be there with all the other world and regional champions from all forms of Motorsport."
RallySport Magazine extends our congratulations to Cody and Ben and all at Les Walkden Rallying for a job well done!
