Troy Dowel completed a successful test session in his Activ RallySport Hyundai i20 in regional Victoria yesterday.
Along with fellow team drivers Richie Dalton and JJ Hatton, Dowel was testing ahead of next week's opening round of the Australian Rally Championship in Western Australia.
The son of 2011 ARC champion Justin, Troy is currently undergoing treatment for Leukemia, with a break in his chemotherapy giving him the opportunity to contest the Forest Rally.
"Troy completed 100km of testing in the G4 rally car successfully to prove his fitness for the Forest Rally," his Facebook page reported.
"He drove very well considering he hadn't driven since August last year and handled the car very well.
"A huge thank you to Will Orders, Pat, Tim, Matt and Ben for preparing such a great car. Also Simon Ellis for jumping in with him and calling the notes.
"Most importantly he had a grin from ear to ear all day."
Based in Busselton, the Forest Rally will run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 5 to 7.
