I have to admit that the late Roger Clark was my hero. Clark swept all before him in rallies in the 1970s and 80s until the Scandinavian hordes took over and Ford pushed Clark aside for the likes of Mikkola, Makinen, Waldegaard and others.

So this new DVD compilation struck the right chord with me as it concentrates on Clark’s career in Escorts.

“Our Man Clark” brings together three classic rallying events - the Mintex Seven Dales Rally, the RAC Round Britain Rally, and the Scottish Rally - all events where Clark scored victories against some of the world’s best drivers of the period.

Although some of the footage is over 30 years old, you’ll find plenty of action amongst the 44 minutes that this DVD runs for.

After watching all three events you get the feeling that there wasn’t much Clark featured, but if you go to the bonus feature where interviewer Dicky Davies gets to ride with Clark on a special stage (and then drives while Roger passengers), you’ll find that the wait was well worthwhile.

There’s some great footage of the pair in HHJ 700N, one of the early MK2 BDAs that Ford built, and some great camera angles.

Another Duke release of early Ford films, it’s a DVD to add to your collection if you’re a Clark or an Escort fan. Available as usual from RallySport Magazine's online Rally Shop.
