Entries for the eighth running of the Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally are open and flowing, though standard entries will be closing soon.

This year’s competition has been designed like wagon wheels around the boutique towns of Willunga, McLaren Vale, Macclesfield and Mt Barker, bringing as much excitement and thrills back to the areas as possible in gratitude for allowing the event to run in the region.  It is expected that thousands will descend upon the district to experience the undeniable excitement of the event as there will be an evolution insofar as the stages will be run multiple times allowing for a far better spectator experience for those supporters of the event.

Indicative of the respect that the Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally has, long time partners will again be supporting the event in 2013.  For the second year running, the event will be based at Serafino Winery in McLaren Vale, where the teams will be starting from and liaising to throughout the day for services, and finally returning at the end of each day for the official event dinners held in the evening.

Shannon’s Insurance have come back to support the event, proving yet again their dedication to grass roots motorsport and their clientele being those that take part in events such as these.

IMS are back again not only to provide the obligatory medical service that the Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally require, but have also come onboard at the event management level, bringing another facet of expertise that can only be a benefit to the event as a whole.

Competitors come from all walks of life and from every state in Australia, with all having a common interest in cars, motoring and motorsport.  The event not only allows these competitors to have a spirited drive through the beautiful Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula, but it also allows them the opportunity each evening to reflect on their experiences of the day in the company of other competitors and event officials.

The Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally is a rally for all car enthusiasts with competition ranging from the Australian Championship component at the pointy end, down to the Tour section for those just wanting to take their road cars out for a spirited drive.  In between there is a competition called Thoroughbred Challenge where participants are timed based on an average speed.  For every second the cars are too fast or slow they are penalized points for each second.

The Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally will also be round 1 of the South Australian Tarmac Rally Championship with round 2 to be held at Targa Adelaide. It is also round 3 and the only Tarmac Rally component of the South Australian Rally Championship.
