Entries have now opened for the 2009 Mt Stuart Sprint being held over the Queens birthday weekend of June 6 & 7 by the Townsville City Autosports Club Inc. (formerly Twin Cities Autosports Club Inc.). The approved supplementary regulations and entry form are available for download from the clubs website www.tcac.net.au .
Daniel Callinan, in his high horsepower Commodore, is returning to try for win number three, Stuart Titheradge in the Evo 3, who was runner up last year, is coming back to try and take the crown from Callinan, whilst last year's third placed Lindsay Stone in his RX7,
wants to prove them both wrong, which should make for a great competition and good spectator viewing.
Local Hillclimb regular Grant Cooper has undertaken a complete rebuild of his R32 GTR Skyline after sitting in the sweep car last year and deciding to step up to play with the big boys.
Competitors from as far as Canberra have expressed their intention to enter this year so the event is growing as word spreads about this great piece of rally road.
The event is reasonably priced to compensate for the distance to travel up north. The Sprint stage would not be out of place amongst the stages in any of the other great Tarmac rallies in Australia as it has everything to challenge even the best competitor and weather in Townsville at this time of year makes it a great excuse to have a holiday with motorsport envolved.
