Victoria, led by the Hyundai Excel Rally Team of Paul Batten/Craig Jones and Emma Cugley/Jo Robison, have won the 2007 Hyundai Interstate Rally Challenge at the combined NSW/Victorian state championship Bega Valley Rally on June 11. Â
The Bega Valley Rally started for the Hyundai Series with a get together at the local dealer, Momsen Motors Hyundai.
Dealer Principal, Jim Cooksley, his family and staff opened their dealership up to the Hyundai Series competitors for vehicle scrutineering, followed with a BBQ and refreshments for all Excel crews. Â Paul and Craig (Vic) finished the Hyundai Interstate Challenge in second place behind NSW team leader Glenn Farrant and Anna Ritson, with Emma Cugley and Jo Robison (Vic) in fourth behind the NSW team of Dave Roberts and Matt Mead.Â
Unfortunately the other two NSW Crews of Matt and Ben Cullen, and Andrei Artmonov and Alex Pisarev, failed to finish, handing the interstate trophy to Victoria.
The Cullen brothers had recurring electrical dramas, and a huge spin on stage 7 saw Andrei and Alex damage their Hyundai’s suspension. Â
