It’s four year’s today since the most successful rally driver in Australian Rally Championship history, Possum Bourne, passed away.
The New Zealander won seven straight Australian Rally Championship titles between 1996 and 2002, but died tragically after an accident during the reconnaissance for the Race to the Sky hillclimb claimed his life in April 2003.
Bourne was the most popular rally driver in recent memory, and his death is still felt across all areas of rallying in Australia and New Zealand.
RallySport Magazine remember a great champion, and acknowledge the sport is much poorer for his passing.
