The Canberra based rally team, Innate Motorsport, will be contesting the full East Coast Bull Bars Australian Rally Championship in a Ford Fiesta R2 next year.  The Fiesta R2 will be driven by the team's regular pairing of Adrian Coppin and Tim Batten.

After a successful season campaigning an older model Ford Fiesta ST this year, the team finished 5th outright in the 2WD category, 2nd in the Privateers Cup and 3rd in the International Cup and won the P3 PRC class after missing the final two rounds of the Championship.

“This year has been about gaining as much experience as possible to prepare for a serious attempt at the title next year when the 2WD formula will be the premier category in the ARC,” driver Adrian Coppin said.  “We have now contested every round of the Championship apart from the West Australian event and feel much more confident going into the new season,” Coppin added.

The season starts in early March with the newly introduced National Capital Rally, to be held on Coppin’s home turf in the forests around Canberra.

“Having the first round in Canberra will be really exciting as my local sponsors, supporters and family will be able to come and see me compete, something they don’t get to do often,” Coppin said.  “And I will have some local knowledge but sometimes that isn’t the advantage everyone thinks it is."

The team embarks on the long trek to Western Australia for the QUIT Forest Rally in April before the Scouts Rally SA in May.  The month of July will see the team in Queensland for the International Rally of Queensland, a round of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship and then returning to Canberra to prepare for the biggest event of the year, Rally Australia, a round of the World Rally Championship at Coffs Harbour in September.

“For any rally competitor, Rally Australia is the equivalent to a V8 Supercar driver competing at Bathurst,” Coppin said.  “I made my debut in the Fiesta ST at last year’s Rally Australia and I can’t wait to get back there.  The atmosphere is incredible - there were so many spectators and talking to the guys you have watched in awe on television has to be experienced to understand what it is like.”
The team’s final event for 2013 will be Rally Victoria in November.

In another development for next year, the team will have a second Ford Fiesta R2 in the country early in the New Year.  This car will make several appearances in the hands of as yet unnamed guest drivers.

The Team Manager for season 2013 will be the very experienced Rob Herridge.  Herridge is a dual Australian Rally Champion and was involved with Kia, Subaru Australia and Hyundai.

“I’m looking forward to working with Adrian and Tim and their team in a new era of the sport,” Herridge said.

In addition to their regular Facebook posts, the team has expanded their online presence by launching a website earlier today.  The URL is www.innatemotorsport.com.

The team has again secured Inklab Design Studio as a supporter, so stay tuned for a wild new livery in 2013.
