Glenney too good in Snowy River Sprint Rally

Steve Glenney was the man to beat in the Snowy River Sprint Rally in Victoria.

Steve Glenney and Danny Traverso scored a fine outright victory in The Snowy River Sprint Rally, held last weekend on tarmac roads north of Lakes Entrance in eastern Victoria.

The third round of the 2017 Australian Tarmac Rally Championship attracted a field of over 40 modern and classic rally cars, with 19 planned special stages over the weekend.

However, bush fires in the Buchan area forced the cancellation of the final four stages on Sunday afternoon.

Tarmac specialist Glenney, driving Traverso’s new Techsport-built Evo IX, opened up a small lead on Saturday, then extended his margin on Sunday morning from the two GT4 Porsches of Tim Hendy and John Ireland.

The final round of the championship, The Great Tarmac Rally, takes place around Marysville in mid-October.
