Held around Eden on the south coast of NSW, the pair had a see-sawing battle over the two days of the event.
In third place was the veteran crew of Ian Hill and Phil Bonser in a Ford Escort RS1800. The former Alpine Rally winners (in an RS1800) showed that they have lost little of their ability, although they finished some eight minutes from the lead.
Dave Gains drove his unlikely Datsun 240K GT to fourth place, ahead of Craig Jarvie in a Holden Commodore.
www.rallysportmag.com.au will have a more John Doutch photos from the event later this week.
In the meantime, check out Motorsport Memories brief video from the rally.
