The new three year partnership, which will see Healthway continue to support the event with the non-smoking message Quit, will further cement Healthway as the longest naming rights sponsor of any ARC round, after first coming on board in 1995.
The Quit message aims to encourage adult smokers to give up smoking.
Healthway’s Executive Director, David Malone (left), said that while WA had one of the lowest smoking rates in Australia, the Quit message remained important as long as people continued to smoke.
“Quit is one of the main messages of the Make Smoking History campaign and it encourages people to think about the health consequences of smoking and encourages and supports them to quit,” Mr Malone said.
Quit Forest Rally Clerk of Course, Ross Tapper (pictured right), said: “We are thrilled that Healthway has continued the commitment to the Forest Rally in such an exciting time for the ARC as a championship.”
“Through the support of Healthway we have been able to grow this event to be one of the favourites on the ARC calendar and with this new commitment we are powering full-steam ahead towards next year’s event – which is now less than five months away,” he said.
The Quit Forest Rally will run on 5-7 April, 2013 and will be based in Busselton and Nannup.
Mr Tapper said that 2013 would be the 29th running of the Forest Rally as a round of the ARC. The event would be the second round of the ECB Australian Rally Championship, the first round of the West Australian Rally Championship and for the third year would also include competition for Side-by-Side, Motorbike and Quad entrants.
Competing on over 220 kilometres of the nation’s toughest roads, newly crowned 2012 ARC Champions Eli Evans and Glen Weston will be leading the charge and will be joined by Australia’s best rally drivers.
In 2013 the ARC moves to a new and exciting two-wheel drive format which is introducing a new era of cars from manufactures such as Honda, Mazda, Renault, Peugeot, Ford and Volkswagon, into the championship.
