Hilary’s Hotel Rally Team suffers disappointing Heat 2
- 28th May 2013, 12:08pm
After the positive fourth outright position during Heat One of Scouts Rally SA, the Hilary’s Hotel Rally Team crew of Will Orders and Toni Feaver were full of confidence for Heat Two.
Heading out to the forests they battled all day in the top five, and for much of the time the gap was only around five seconds between them and their immediate competitors. At one stage the gap was under a second, and with Orders not giving up, they pushed hard all day long. Even with a flat tyre they were still able to keep the Nissan S13 in the top five.
With two stages left in the rally, Orders and Feaver had to make up a 1.1 second deficit to the Renault of Tom Wilde but two kilometres into the second last stage the engine cried enough and the rally was over.
"It's bitterly disappointing considering the result we had yesterday and the position we were in this afternoon. For the engine to stop now, it's shattering, but that's motorsport." Orders said.
Team principle, Hilary Evans, felt for the whole team. "This hurts, but it's the way it goes. The whole crew have battled hard to get to where they are with essentially a car that is 20 years old and against factory teams their efforts should not go unnoticed."
"We still have massive positives to take away from the event. We finished Heat One fourth and we were so close to fourth today, so I'm definitely still happy we got some good points from the rally. It's not all bad, you have to look at the plus side," Orders added.
