Ford's Mikko Hirvonen takes the lead heading into Leg 2 of the tough Acropolis Rally in Greece.  After a gruelling day one, Hirvonen started the day's final stage in third place and looked set to finish the day in second.

Team tactics were for rally leader, and fellow BP Ford Abu Dhabi driver, Jari-Matti Latvala, to maintain his place at the head of the field, however an off on the day's final stage, catapulted Hirvonen into the lead.  The Finn will now have the unenviable task of acting as road-sweeper on the rough Greek roads on day two.  Ford boss, Malcolm Wilson, has understandably disappointed with Latvala's error but remains confident the team can still win the rally.

Hot on Hirvonen's heels are the Citroens of Dani Sordo and Sebastien Loeb,  with the privately-entered Citroen of Petter Solberg in fourth.

Young Russian, Evgeny Novikov, with Aussie co-driver Dale Moscatt alongside, recorded his first WRC stage win on SS4 - a remarkable result for the youngster.  They finished the day in 12th place.
