The new G2 Honda Jazz will make their debut tomorrow night at Calder Park for Round One of the Bosch ARC.

Months of production went into the rally cars and weeks of testing have led to the opening round of the Bosch ARC, which runs this weekend, from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th March.

After two years of rallying a Honda, driver Eli Evans and co-driver Glen Weston have stepped up their game in the two-wheel drive arena with a lighter, faster, jazzier rally car. The pair will be joined by new Evans Motorsport teammates Mark Pedder and Claire Ryan, who will rally the second Honda Jazz.

Eli Evans is pumped; “The wet weather will make this event even more spectacular. It will be action packed!

“We’ve done reconnaissance today and the stages will be a huge amount of fun. There are some real muddy sections that will make it extra challenging for the competitors and great for spectators,” Evans said.

After being shipped here from Italy and undergoing extensive testing, the Jazz took to Honda Australia’s head office in Melbourne for a demonstration last week. To see the Jazz in action visit Honda Racing Australia’s Facebook page (facebook.com/HondaRacingAustralia) where you can also view footage of testing in Italy earlier this year.

Mark, Claire and two of the fastest Jazz in the world are not the only new and exciting changes Honda will bring to the Bosch ARC this year. With a reputation for innovation, Honda has sponsored ‘Rally Live’ that is set to change the face of rallying in Australia.

GPS-based transponder units will be fitted in each rally car this year and mapped to each stage to track where they are, give warning signals when approaching other vehicles and offer spectators the chance to view stage times in real-time and see what is happening on each stage.

Safety will be improved, where in the event of a collision or roll the transponder will send an emergency signal back to its base. One press of a button will also send out a help-signal.

Driven by two of the most reputable names in rallying, Evans and Pedder, the Honda Jazz will be on display for their fans and spectators all weekend. You can follow the action in real time at www.rallylive.com.au
