Busselton-based rally driver Leigh Hynes and co-driver Stuart Percival remain the strongest contenders for the 2013 WA Rally Championship (WARC) honours as they get set for the second last event for the year.

The popular pair from the True Blue Alarms Rally Team will hit maximum speed on the fast flowing gravel roads around the old Grimwade town site near Balingup on Saturday July 27 when they compete in the LRT Lewana Stages Rally.

The event will be another chance for Hynes and Percival, who have dominated the WARC so far this year, to leave their competition in the dust of their striking orange and blue Subaru WRX.

The True Blue Alarms Rally Team’s 2013 scorecard shows a win in Heat Two of the Quit Forest Rally in April; Outright victory at the Trade Hire Donnelly Rally in May; and a sensational Outright win at the Experts Cup Rally in June where they finished more than two minutes clear of their nearest rivals.

Hynes and Percival, who have been competing together since 2006 and who were joint WARC Champions in 2008 and 2011, have shown that a combination of raw speed, consistency and understanding each other has been their winning formula.

“We just work so well together,” Hynes said.

“I think Stu and I have a synchronicity that can only be matched by a few teams.”

Hynes said it also helped to be backed by a winning team including their biggest supporters from True Blue Alarms. Like Hynes and Percival, the Mandurah-based mobile car, boat and caravan security specialists have vast experience in their field.

The LRT Lewana Stages is round four of the WARC and starts at 1pm on Saturday July 27 from the Jim MacDonald Oval on South West Highway in Kirup.
