Hyundai i20 R5 crews entered for this year’s Monza Rally Show (December 6-8) will be able to compete for the Hyundai i20 R5 Trophy at the event. The Hyundai i20 R5 Trophy will run as a class within the R5 class, which this year will be the premier category at the famous winter rally event. The top three drivers will be awarded a cash prize, with the aim of helping them fund their 2020 rallying season. The Trophy winner will receive €10.000 and the second and third placed drivers €5.000 and €3.000 respectively. All the i20 R5 crews at the event will be able to take advantage of a dedicated spare parts truck at the track, with support to make sure the Hyundai cars run to their best throughout the event. The i20 R5 proved to be very competitive at last year’s event, with Luca Rossetti winning the R5 class at the wheel of one car, though it was Andrea Mabellini who scooped the top prize for the Trophy. The weekend also marked the i20 R5 debut of Simone Tempestini, for whom third place in the Trophy acted a springboard to a 2019 season where he took his i20 R5 to the Romanian national championship title and the WRC2 podium on Rally Italia Sardegna. The Monza Rally show has become one of the largest events of the rallying season. It regularly attracts star drivers from the wider motorsport world, as well as from across rallying, with more than 50,000 fans also attending the weekend. Across the three days crews and cars take on stages laid out around the famous Grand Prix track, as well as sections of the paddock and the historic 1950s banked oval. The Monza Rally Show will be an opportunity for i20 R5 customers to gather after a successful 2019 season, where crews with the car secured national titles in Romania, Slovenia and Netherlands, as well as second places in the very competitive domestic series in Portugal and Germany.
