Parked up was how we found the Mini Cooper AP4 when we arrived at the private test track in Victoria’s North East, and much to our relief, it was just temporary – nothing untoward about the stop, just more changes to make on this essentially all-new rally car.
Evans and new co-driver, Adam Wright, had completed a few runs, and were back in to complete set-up changes.
The car had already been transformed after a very short test on tarmac in the weeks prior, and according to Evans, still had a long way to go. Not that the car was horrible or clearly off the pace, but simply that he was willing to try and try and try on this fine Sunday to maximise the car as much as possible.
After all, testing time like this does not come around too often.
