M-Sport man could be Tanak’s Toyota replacement

M-Sport driver, Elfyn Evans, has emerged as a possible replacement for Ott Tanak at Toyota next year. WRC news breaker, David Evans, has reported that Evans visited Toyota's Finnish headquarters last week, although neither Evans or Tommi Makinen were available for comment. M-Sport WRC team principal Richard Millener told Autosport he would do all he could to keep Evans for next season. "We've worked with Elfyn for a very long time," Millener said. "As a team, Malcolm [Wilson, team principal] has invested a huge amount in him and we'd be very reluctant to see him leave. "As much as we would love to keep Elfyn and win more rallies with him next year, we have to be very aware that we're a private team in a competitive commercial environment." Toyota's only contracted driver for 2020 is currently Kalle Rovanpera, the young WRC2 champion who is yet to enter a rally in a World Rally Car.
