Two-time World Rally Champion, Marcus Grönholm, will return to the WRC at the wheel of a Prodrive Subaru Impreza WRC 2008 world rally car at Rally Portugal.

Gronholm will return to competition with co-driver, Timo Rautiainen, after an absence of almost 18 months.

"Prodrive approached and offered me a chance to compete in WRC Portugal with a Subaru Impreza WRC 2008 rally car. After having a test in WRC Norway, I decided to take the challenge," Grönholm said on his website.

"When 1½ years ago I made a decision to retire from WRC I didn't say never to come back. However WRC Portugal is just a single event and nothing more. After the rally I have to analyze my feelings and to see what happens next," he added.

Whilst the other WRC drivers will be tackling the roads of Rally Cyprus, the next event of the calendar, Gronholm will be concentrating on skiing!  This coming weekend, Gronholm will compete in the word's biggest single skiing event - the Swedish Vasaloppet.

"After my active career I've just enjoyed life," Gronholm said.  "A year ago I drove a few European rallycross events and in this year I decided to challenge myself in 90 kilometres of skiing. I must do something to get my condition better for the WRC Portugal," he  joked.

Rally Portugal will run on the first weekend of April.
