Brad Markovic is determined to finish on the podium at this Saturday’s Lewana Stages in Western Australia.
The rally, which will give the Auto One driver plenty of chances to show off his talent over high speed roads and big jumps, is the second last of the season for the WA Rally Championship’s 4WD competitors.
A win at the event, which is based around Kirup (more than 200km south of Perth), would be the perfect way to recover from a disappointing last round.
At the Quit Experts Cup in June, after driving the ‘stage of his rallying career’, Markovic’s Maximum Motorsport-prepared Subaru WRX suffered not one, but two punctures, forcing him out of the event.
“It was gut wrenching to go out like that,” Markovic said. “But it’s given me the determination to come out firing at the Lewana Stages and hopefully come away with a win.”
“The Lewana Stages is a very technical rally and you have to be really on your game.”
Thanks to a new partnership with Dunlop, Markovic’s Subaru WRX has been fitted with new tyres for the event.
“A lot of competitors in the New Zealand championship have had success with the Dunlop tyres,” he said.
Markovic and co-driver Glenn Macneall, a former Asia-Pacific Rally Champion, are one of the country’s finest rallying combinations.
“This is only our second season together but we just work so well together,” Markovic said.
“We’re both very passionate about rallying.”
The Lewana Stages kicks off at 1pm on Saturday.
