This Sunday (20th May) will see a full field of over 60 cars start the Volksmuller Rallysprint, held at the Sydney International Dragstrip in Western Sydney. And the competition is likely to be fierce with former Australian, NSW and Alpine Rally Champions set to battle for the top spots on the podium.
Multiple Australian Rally Champion, Neal Bates will be taking on the current NSW Evolution Lancers of Tim Wilkins, winner of Round 1 of the MTA NSW Championship and Tom Clarke, winner of round 2.
In fact, the stage is set for an epic battle between the same three Lancers that fought for the rally win at the recent Mitta Mountain Rally. JJ Hatton will be starting as car 4 and throw Tom Ryan into the mix in yet another Evolution Lancer, the scene is set for a thrilling day of competitive rallying.
And let’s not forget Jack Monkhouse, the former Alpine Rally winner will be bringing the Datsun 180B along for his crack at winning the 2WD trophy, but there will be no doubt he will have his eye on the outright podium as well.
There are also several amazing classic Ford Escorts competing, some worth in excess of $150,000.
The Rallysprint is expected to be a fantastic opportunity to see both modern and classic rally cars doing what they do best, getting sideways in the dirt. Spectators are free and welcome to view the action from one of the many vantage points around the Rallysprint course.
The rallying starts at 10am, spectator access is available from 9am. You can access the Rallysprint using the Dragway entrances off Ferrers Road, Eastern Creek.
