Organisers of this year’s RBS International Manx Rally, have received an entry from 1995 World Rally Champion, Colin McRae.
To be co-driven on this occasion by Campbell Roy , McRae will be using his powerful Ford Escort MkII and, while it has to be said that an outright win in a two-wheel drive car is unlikely in this day and age, the Scotsman’s flamboyant driving style will no doubt be a huge crowd-pleaser!
Clerk of the Course, John Skinner, said “Obviously we’re delighted to see Colin on the Isle of Man , not least for the fact that he has been involved in a campaign to raise awareness of organ donation. We, as an event, support The Liver Foundation Trust and I’m sure his appearance can only do the cause a great deal of good.”
The name of ‘McRae’ already appears in the impressive list of past-winners of the Manx Rally with Colin’s father, Jimmy, taking his MG Metro 6R4 to victory, partnered by Rob Arthur, exactly ten years ago in 1997.
This year’s event will take place on May 11 and 12.
