The Border Ranges Rally is touted as one of the best rallies on the Australian calendar, with the fastest and smoothest roads, so it is only fitting to do what it takes to get the fastest driver in the country to compete.
Central Queensland Petroleum have once again supplied the event with Fuel cards as both special awards and also used as incentives to attract class acts, such as Monkhouse.
CQP spokes person Tony Lowe said; “Last year we teamed up with GCTMSC to bring Ross Dunkerton and help raise the bar and give the event some extra profile. It worked very well for all concerned, so we are very excited to play a part in this event once again.
"I for one cannot wait to get down to the rally and see Captain Jack in action. The roads should suit his speed and flamboyant style. Whilst there are many high quality 4WDs in the line up, my money is on Jack to take the event outright,” Lowe said.
The Gold Coast and Tweed Motorsports Club organise the rally and they make no bones about promoting the fact that they want this event on the Global Classic Radar.
Stephen Davies spoke on behalf of the club and said: “The roads around Kyogle and Woodenbong are some of the fastest and smoothest on the east coast of Australia and are often compared to the Otago Rally in New Zealand. We have been putting in huge efforts to ensure this events gets the leg up it deserves and we hope to attract not only Australia’s finest classic competitors, but also from across the ditch and other parts of the world.”
The rally kicks off on Friday night at the Kyogle Showgrounds with a spectacular Super Special Stage. Saturday the rally travels up into the Border Ranges to use shire roads around Woodenbong and Urbenville then Sunday will take competitors back to Kyogle to compete on the splendid and memorable WRC roads from 2009.
