Jack Monkhouse’s entry in this weekend’s Brakes Direct Border Ranges Rally in Queensland has been withdrawn.

The South Australian was to have driven a V8 powered Opel Manta in the event, but engine problems have forced the withdrawal.

The Manta was used as a zero car at the recent New South Wales state championship round, however the car blew a head gasket and the subsequent damage means the engine cannot be repaired in time.

Mal Keough now heads the entry list in his incredible Audi Quattro S1 replica, followed by multiple Otago Rally winner, Derek Ayson, driving Ed Mulligan’s Ford Escort.

This will Ayson’s first event outside his native New Zealand.
