Fans of popular rally driver Jack Monkhouse took their appreciation of the South Australia to a new level at the 2019 Alpine Rally. A group of Monkhouse 'uber fans' arrived at the start of the rally in Lakes Entrance all dressed as monks. Resplendent in their brown robes and white crosses, the monks gathered around their man's 2015 Alpine Rally-winning Datsun 180B SSS. They also carried a child's doll, painted gold, and representing "the golden child".

Unfortunately for Monkhouse and co-driver Dale Moscatt, the intervention of their followers didn't work in their favour, as they crashed out of the rally early on the second day. Nevertheless, it was a show of support that was great to see. With any luck we'll see Monkhouse and his repaired Datsun more regularly on the stages next year.
