The Queensland rally calendar has undergone some changes, with a new one-day round of the state championship to be held at Imbil on August 12th.
Ryan Smart on his way to victory in last year's Rally of Queensland. (Photo: Pete Johnson)The event will be round three of the Queensland Rally Championship (QRC), and replaces the International Rally of Queensland, which was recently cancelled by CAMS.
It will be run by the Gold Coast Tweed Motorsport Club (GCTMC), who had recently been forced to cancel this year’s Border Ranges Rally due to organisational issues.
The GCTMC are aiming to run the popular Border Ranges event again in August 2018.
A further addition to the QRC may soon be added, with plans afoot to include a round of the QRC into November’s Rally Australia, based at Coffs Harbour - although this is still in the early negotiation stages.
QRC sponsor MRF Tyres have been kept up to date with all proposed changes to the calendar.
