Australia's largest Handyman and Property Maintenance business, Hire-A-Hubby, has become the newest entrant into the sponsorship world for Team Stigma driver Heather Smith. Hire-A-Hubby will also be joined by Sydney based sign specialist Best Value Signs as the team competes for the first time at the famous Bega Valley Rally.
Smith will be joined in the car by former NSW Excel Series Champion, Glenn “The Fazz†Farrant.
Farrant won the NSW Excel Series in 2005 and 2007 as a driver, and is spending 2009 doing selective events with Team Stigma where his job will be to guide Smith to another level.
“I feel very fortunate to have “The Fazz†in the car! I'm hoping some of his speed can rub off on me!†said Smith. “Actually, don't tell The Fazz, but he's in the car with me because all the other Excel drivers paid me to keep him out of the Excel rally event,†Smith joked.
Team Stigma will be taking on the forests south of Bega this weekend.
“I've always wanted to compete at Bega,†says Smith “It's a shame those shire roads are not part of the event, but for me any chance to rally is a good opportunity, so we'll go there and give the event our best shot and be grinning from ear to ear!â€
There's some tough class competition for Team Stigma, including a Porsche, Nissan Silvia, Ford Escort and a couple of Commodores.
“Our aim is always to get to the end of the event... but we'll be hoping to pick up some class points along the way.â€
Due to bringing the new sponsors on board, the car has undergone a paintwork upgrade and will reveal it's new livery for the rally on Sunday.
The “Stigma†has a 2.6L naturally-aspirated engine, quad throttle body injection and Bilstein suspension that keeps it firmly on the road. The car is prepared and maintained by it's biggest sponsor, Kactus Engineering, without whom it wouldn't be running.
“It's been an exciting lead up to this event,†says Smith. “Now, I just can't wait to get down to Bega and out on those forest roads!â€
