To be run out of the North East Victorian town of Mansfield on Saturday, March 16, this will be the sixth time that the club has run Rally Bonnie Doon
The Bendigo Tyre Centre Rally Bonnie Doon will form part of the NECC’s 60th anniversary celebrations*.
The event will offer optional pacenoting for all competitors, with reconnaissance to be held on Friday, March 15. This will be followed by an optional ceremonial start in Mansfield on Friday evening, before the event proper on the Saturday.
Clerk of Course, Scott Spedding, is excited to have the event back on the Victorian rally calendar, following a year off in 2012.
“As in previous years, the North Eastern Car Club’s focus is on providing an event that is great fun for drivers, co-drivers, service crews and their families,” Spedding said.
“The move to base the event in Mansfield is a significant one, and we will have some new stages in this year’s event (subject to DSE and council approval) that will really test competitors on some sensational roads.”
It is expected that the event will offer 110 kilometres of stages, with a similar distance in transport. Spectators will be well catered for with two locations to see the cars in action.
“We’re really excited to welcome Bendigo Tyre Centre as the naming rights sponsor for the event,” Spedding added.
“Along with tyres, they offer a wide range of rally equipment and are a perfect partner for the event.
“We have planned some significant changes to this year’s rally, and the opportunity to pacenote the event on the Friday should ensure that we again attract a full field of 60 cars.
“For those who can’t get to the event for the Friday reconnaissance, we will provide a full road book.”
Supplementary Regulations for the event should be available towards the end of January, with entries to open on February 1.
