The organisers of the Bega Valley Motors Rally have revised the event to be fully conducted in forests near Eden, instead of a combination of forest and shire roads.

"There is now insufficient time to have the required Traffic Control Plans approved for the use of council roads for the long weekend", said event organiser Tom Snooks when announcing the change.

"We are fortunate that Forestry NSW approved of our change of plans at such a short notice to ensure that the event competitiveness will be up to State Championship standard, and we are very grateful for their co-operation."

"This co-operation has meant we did not have to cancel the event, allowing the rally fraternity to make a sizeable economic contribution to the region for the long weekend."

"With a field of 150 crew members, together with many service crew members, officials and spectators it is expected that the economic benefit to the Bega Valley will exceed $200,000 for the long weekend".

The event, which has attracted some 75 entries from New South Wales and Victorian Rally Championship competitors, as well as competitors for the ACT Regional Rally Series, will commence from Zingel Place in Bega at 9.00am on Sunday, and finish back there with the first car arriving at 6.30pm.

Based at the Bega RSL, the rally's presentation to the winners on Sunday night will climax a great day's rallying.

More details about revised route to be announced shortly.
