New restrictions affecting the state of New South Wales have forced the postponement of the Caves Classic Rally.
The rally was set to be round two of the state championship, however, the event will not run based on advice from NSW Health.
"The NSW Chief Health Officer has implemented new restrictions which will impact the ability for events to go ahead in New South Wales," a Motorsport Australia statement said.
"As of 19 August, no national or state level events (both Championships and Series) can be held anywhere in NSW.
Regional events may continue, in line with Motorsport Australia’s Return To Race strategy and NSW restrictions, which will allow for local events for local competitors only, with no overnight stays."
There is no information about whether these restrictions will affect the Australian Rally Championship's return in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
The ACT is bordered entirely by New South Wales.
"On a national level, no events are currently being permitted in Victoria, however events are being successfully held in other states around Australia in line with Return To Race," the statement continued.
