Numbers don’t lie in bid to land vacant M-Sport seats

Accuse us of being biased at trying to get Hayden Paddon back into the WRC if you like, but the statistics don’t lie.
Kiwi rally fan, Gary Boyd, has crunched the numbers over the past two years, and Paddon’s points per WRC rally is the highest of any of the leading drivers pushing for a vacant M-Sport seat.
From seven starts in the WRC from 2018 and 2019, the former Hyundai driver averages 10.43 points per event.
In contrast, the drivers average the following:
Hayden Paddon 10.43
Mads Ostberg 8.75
Jari-Matti Latvala 8.54
Andreas Mikkelsen 8.09
Esapekka Lappi 8.04
Kris Meeke 7.42
Teemu Suninen 5.96
Craig Breen 5.92
Pontus Tideman 3.00
Gus Greensmith 0.67
The numbers may make good reading for Paddon fans, but unfortunately the size of your bank balance is often more important to WRC team managers.
